NVMe SSD Expansion Slot Allowable Space (With Heatsink):
The available space between the surface of the SSD and the inner surface of the cover measures 7mm. If you intend to use an external heatsink, please ensure it is 7mm or less in thickness. For example, the Samsung 980 PRO offers an external heatsink with a thickness of 8.6mm, which exceeds the allowable space of the Mac Mini Dock. However, as an alternative, you can choose to leave the cover open when using the external heatsink.
IMPORTANT NOTICE 1
Due to potential Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) generated by USB 3.0, we strongly advise against connecting any 2.4GHz wireless devices, such as wireless mice and keyboards, to this docking station. This precaution ensures uninterrupted wireless device performance.
IMPORTANT NOTICE 2
Are you considering purchasing this product and happen to be an M1, M2 or M3 chip computer user?
If so, it's essential to take a moment to review the SSD compatibility list . This is especially crucial if you plan to use the SSD in a Mac OS environment or with an M1, M2 or M3 computer. There have been several reports indicating that M1, M2 or M3 computers may impose limitations on the WRITE speed of an SSD while maintaining normal READ speed. We hold strong hope that this issue will be addressed in a forthcoming Mac OS update.
However, it's worth noting that even SSDs labeled as "COMPATIBLE" may still experience limited or degraded WRITE Speed when used with M1, M2 or M3 computers. We recommend exploring the forum links below to gain insights before making your SSD purchase decision.
Should you choose to experiment with SSDs listed as "Compatible" on the SSD compatibility list to assess if they function without WRITE SPEED LIMIT issues on an M1, M2 or M3 chip computer, please make your purchase from an SSD seller that allows returns in case the SSD(s) you select exhibit underperformance or reduced WRITE speed due to M1, M2 or M3 chip WRITE speed limitations. Please be aware that we do not accept product returns solely based on WRITE Speed Limitations on M1, M2 or M3 chip computers. This is an issue that should ideally be addressed by Apple. For further details, refer to the section titled "NVMe SSD Models NOT having Slow WRITE Speed issues on M1 Computers - Updated 27FEB2023."
